Buying digital expertise for the retail market

Transforming retail with Agile Portfolio Management
Our client, one of Austria's largest retailers, faced challenges due to increasing complexity and a rapidly evolving market. Their software development department managed a substantial landscape of critical applications. However, the complexity of the digital retail landscape required a collaborative demand management and prioritization process between IT and business units. Additionally, planning within the team needed improvement to enhance efficiency.
Nagarro responded by initiating a transformation program that incorporated strategy workshops, agile framework showcases, and case studies. These initiatives leveraged existing strengths and resources to create a tailored portfolio management framework and process. Collaborative sessions with the client ensured the approach's validation, experimentation based on value hypothesis, and adaptation to the client's specific context. This customized framework was designed to prioritize demands collaboratively based on their value to the organization and customers.
The implementation of this new portfolio management process resulted in collaborative demand prioritization, aligning IT and business units for the benefit of both the organization and its customers. A strategic roadmap was established to harmonize measures within the IT department. Early identification of dependencies became possible, and operational planning became consistent across teams. Furthermore, established feedback loops at all levels ensured continuous improvement of the products built and strengthened collaboration across teams. This successful transformation empowered the client to respond to market changes with agility, enhance its competitive position, and streamline development processes to serve customers more effectively.
