Modernized finance operations with Business Central

A future-ready ERP platform through a seamless transition from NAV to Business Central

the story

SIXT Denmark is a leading European car rental provider delivering high volume mobility services across Denmark, supporting complex finance and fleet operations. With Microsoft NAV reaching end of support, SIXT Denmark wanted to modernize its ERP landscape while preserving critical customizations, eliminating manual processes, and improving integration reliability, without disrupting ongoing operational workflows.

Nagarro migrated SIXT Denmark to cloud-based Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, retained essential functionality, automated high volume financial processes using intelligent agents, modernized integrations, and enabled a scalable, future ready ERP platform.

"We partnered with Nagarro to automate the reading and processing of financial vouchers on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central through an AI-powered interface agent built on Microsoft Copilot. The AI agent significantly reduced manual effort and errors, with process completion time shrinking in worse cases, from 1-2 days to about an hour. Nagarro's team's technical depth, agility, and focus on business outcomes made them a trusted partner in accelerating our AI-driven ERP transformation."

Jonas Kamp-Jensen, IT Project Manager, Sixt Denmark.

the challenge

With rapidly increasing operational and technical risk, SIXT Denmark needed to modernize its ERP landscape as Microsoft NAV support neared discontinuation. The priority was to move to a cloud-based platform without disrupting day-to-day finance, sales, purchasing, and inventory operations.

The transformation came with four key challenges:

Protecting business continuity

Existing NAV customizations were deeply embedded in critical workflows and had to be preserved or carefully modernized to avoid loss of business logic.

Shield 2-1

Reducing manual effort and errors

Manual processes created significant inefficiencies, particularly the manual uploading of e-invoices for customers that resulted in frequent errors, delays, and reconciliation issues.

Modernizing integrations

Third party integrations relied heavily on flat files and manual uploads, limiting real time data visibility and increasing operational risk.

Building for scale

They also wanted to reduce on-premises infrastructure maintenance costs while creating a scalable ERP foundation for future growth, new integrations, and automation.

the solution

Nagarro delivered a structured migration from NAV 2017 to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central on cloud, following Microsoft-recommended best practices to ensure continuity, stability, and modernization.

Cloud ERP migration with business continuity

A structured migration approach ensured critical customizations across Finance, Sales, Purchasing, and Inventory were preserved while adopting standard Business Central capabilities. The approach focused on preserving critical customizations where needed, while adopting standard Business Central capabilities to simplify the ERP landscape.

Add-on reconfiguration and functional enhancement

Existing add ons were configured to strengthen core business functionality, including:

  • Continia Document Capture for automated invoice processing and document digitization.

  • Continia Payment Management for streamlined payment processing, reconciliation, and bank integrations.

E-invoicing and automation

Implemented Pagero Online for e-invoicing and compliant electronic document exchange, replacing manual invoice processing. Implemented Nagarro’s proprietary Interface Files Agent to automate raw flat files ingestion, validation, formatting, and processing from external systems, converting them into Business Central‑ready records with optional automated posting.

Historical data migration

Over 140 GB of historical data, including ledger entries and attachments, was successfully migrated with full data integrity.

Third-party systems integrations

Robust integrations were established with key business systems:

  • XFleet for inventory (car) synchronization and handling leasing data, e-Collect for damage and fine management.

  • CarAds for leased car invoicing, and

  • Google Cloud Platform for data warehousing.

Adoption and post go-live support

End-user training and post-go-live support ensured smooth adoption, operational stability, and a strong foundation for long-term ERP success.
