Siemens is one of the world's most reputed organizations and the largest industrial manufacturing company in Europe. The conglomerate is a global market leader in industrial automation and industrial software, operating in various sectors, such as energy, healthcare, mobility, and smart infrastructure.

Analysis

Siemens was already operating on the public cloud provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS) to meet the customer and stakeholder demand. However, they wanted to optimize and secure their cloud infrastructure and required Nagarro's cloud expertise and services to cater operational and implementation needs.

During our analysis, we have observed 8 different Siemens applications for “Siemens Smart Infrastructure account” viz Building-X, GSW, TSDB viz and identified the following challenges

1. Cloud Optimization

Nagarro implemented best practices and tools to optimize the client's cloud infrastructure, such as AWS Well-Architected Framework, AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Trusted Advisor, and AWS CloudFormation. We also helped them adopt a serverless-first approach and migrate their legacy EC2 instances to AWS Lambda functions, which reduced the operational overhead and improved the scalability and efficiency of their cloud applications.

2. Cloud security

Nagarro ensured that the Siemens SI cloud infrastructure was secure and compliant with the relevant regulations, such as GDPR and ISO 27001. We conducted regular audits and assessments to monitor and remediate any security gaps or vulnerabilities.

3. Cloud reliability

Nagarro leveraged the cloud's scalability, flexibility, and speed to enhance the reliability and performance of the client's cloud applications and systems. We used AWS services and features, such as AWS Auto Scaling, AWS Elastic Load Balancing, AWS CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray, and AWS SNS, to ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and resilience of the client's cloud infrastructure. Nagarro also supported the client in developing and deploying hybrid, multi-cloud, and edge environments to meet the evolving needs and expectations of their customers and stakeholders.
