Digitization of wind turbine processes for Enercon


As businesses expand, there is a constant need to upgrade existing processes. At Enercon, due to inconsistent processes and the lack of clarity, information was transmitted incorrectly between the planning and operations departments. Oftentimes, critical information was also lost. This in turn led to risks going unrecognized, errors in assembly not being communicated in a timely manner, and long and complicated communication channels.


Nagarro's service included developing and implementing seven different apps for use on construction sites. These are technically integrated into the SAP Cloud Platform NEO, SAP ECC, and SAP S/4HANA. Each role has an offline app and a web app available. Via the apps, employees can plan orders and view the status of individual work steps in real-time, among other things. The apps are also used for commissioning, handover to the customer, and communication.


Master data has been harmonized and is now only maintained via a central system. In addition, the data is now available in real-time. Employees can complete tasks at least two to four hours quicker than before. Moreover, the apps enable teams to better anticipate risks in construction site operations, such as delays in material procurement or weather-related restrictions, and respond more quickly. This, in turn, means that customers are more satisfied.

From the beginning, the development of the apps has been based on the requirements of the employees in their daily work. As a result, the teams have been able to get the apps up and running quickly.
