Customized Video Apps on a wide range of consumer platforms for video application service provider

the story

Our client is a service provider for Tier 1 media and telecommunications companies who were looking to bring their media libraries to their audience with video applications on all popular consumer platforms. Nagarro was onboarded to build a reference application to accelerate the delivery of these video apps on Android, Amazon Fire TV, Xbox One, Samsung, and LG platforms. The solution we built has brought down the overall development time by 50 percent of the other applications. In addition, Nagarro delivered finished applications on iOS, Apple TV, HTML-based platforms, and other set-top boxes.

Build reference apps on HTML TV platforms, Xbox One and Android platforms to expand the client’s portfolio and give Nagarro's client and their customers the ability to reach a much larger audience quickly. Each reference application required detailed knowledge of the platform capabilities. Analytics, advertising, and subscription frameworks also needed to be built as a common shared component to streamline app development and make sure business rules and results were measured consistently across all the platforms.

Nagarro architects consulted with the client’s technical leadership to understand how trade-offs on each platform could be solved with minimal impact to the other platforms our client supports. React and Redux were used for responsive web and HTML-based Smart TVs, retrofit and rxjava for Android mobile/TV platforms. The solution integrated third party vendor workflows through a scalable orchestration engine and extensible data model.

Nagarro’s reference applications reduced the development time by 50 percent for the end customer applications delivered to Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, Xbox One, and more. The reduced development time allowed Nagarro's client to offer a wider range of platform options to their customers. It allowed for simplified and seamless integration of all third-party vendors involving identity management, payment, reporting, analytics, recommendations, etc.
