Building an AI-ready foundation for test automation

How Rosenberger Telematics reimagined its quality assurance

the challenge

As Rosenberger Telematics expanded its software capabilities, an increasing number of test cases needed to be executed manually. This required significant effort from the team and led to slower feedback cycles during development. At the same time, the company also wanted to introduce test automation in a sustainable way. Beyond selecting the right technology, it needed guidance on architecture, test design, and the potential role of AI in future testing activities.

the solution

Nagarro began with a focused discovery phase to define the scope and identify the most suitable automation approach. Based on these findings, the team implemented a Playwright-based test automation framework, using its A2A.PlayRite accelerator. They automated four representative test scenarios of varying complexity to validate their approach and establish a foundation for future automation initiatives. Once the framework was integrated into the existing CI/CD pipeline, automated tests became part of the software delivery process.

The solution was designed from the outset to support AI-assisted test development. By enabling AI agents to generate new automated tests and extend existing ones, Rosenberger Telematics can now expand test coverage more efficiently as new functionality is introduced, reducing the manual effort traditionally associated with test automation.

the outcome

Rosenberger Telematics has now developed a scalable foundation for expanding automated testing across its software landscape. The new framework reduces the effort associated with repetitive manual testing and provides faster feedback on software changes. This allows teams to spend less time on routine test execution and focus on higher-value activities. The AI-native approach significantly accelerates test creation. Depending on complexity, the effort required to create automated test scripts can be reduced by up to 70%. In one representative example, a test script that would typically require around four hours of manual work was generated by an AI agent in just seven minutes, followed by further reviews and refinements by the team.

With an AI-ready automation foundation in place, Rosenberger Telematics has become well-positioned to scale quality assurance efficiently even as its software portfolio continues to evolve.

Together with Nagarro, we built and implemented a test automation architecture tailored to our system landscape within a remarkably short time, successfully validating it through multiple test scenarios. Particularly impressive was seeing how AI can streamline the creation and maintenance of automated tests.
