An agile migration of IT systems, to Azure, in a very short timeframe to ensure high quality service and substantial cost reduction.

At Wunderman Thompson experts provide end-to-end capabilities at a global scale to deliver inspiration across the entire brand and customer experience. The company was hosting a small subset of servers for one of their most important clients which ran out of general maintenance in January 2020 because of the age of the server technology, making them vulnerable to threats. Nagarro carried out an agile migration of IT systems in a very short timeframe to ensure high quality service and substantially cost reduction. Post migration, Nagarro further optimized the cloud environment in terms of reliability and security.

Due to outdated server technology, several Windows servers ran out of general maintenance, making them vulnerable. Wunderman Thompson had to choose between either performing an in-place migration to a more recent server technology or moving all affected servers to Microsoft Azure.

Nagarro prepared a concept for migrating them to Azure. After a first test-migration, Nagarro migrated the productive servers. Also, numerous databases had to be moved to a new Azure subscription at short notice. Through our excellent partnership, we managed to migrate the databases completely within two weeks.

Reduced total cost of ownership due to Azure’s pay-as-you-go cost model, secure and reliable back-up infrastructure for two more years, due to Azure’s extended support and eliminated the risk of exposed customer data caused by outdated server systems.
